Again back to chennai after a gap of 11 months. But this time it has a difference.I am joining the IT workforce of chennai trying to catch up with their Banglore counterparts.its a nice feeling to be in chennai and join this company which would enable me to be with my brother and my freinds here........9 months working in Kerala under a calm and relaxed enviornment;i had actually started lossing connection with the world. when i look back i feel what all has happened has actually happened according to the plan;dont knpow why i feel likethat, but i have my own reasons to belive it.
I first visited chennai in the year 2007 to join the masters programme. From the point i landed in the central railway station, there are lot of things that i have noticed about chennai, some of which i really love and some which i hate. To start with the negatives; (because its the first thing anybody could notice when you comedown to chennai)
Lack of respect for people and towards mother nature.
I dont exactly remeber the date this has happened, but it was in the month of April in the year 2007,it was my first experience with what they call a SHARE AUTO.I got into this Auto from choolemedu, was stunned intially by the way people sit in this vehicle.......some are sitting in the seatssome below the seats and people are sitting in different fashions,we would feel that there hands and legs are tied with hands touching the leg.I got in to the auto;sme how adjusted in one corner.Initially i was surprised to see the concentration of the auto driver while driving leaning forward without looking into his sides, and his head is kept like his head is outside the front glass.......but immediately i came to notice that he was forced to attain the posture due to the rigid support from the passengers sitting in his either side. The situation with any other traffic medium is no different.....The autowallas,if you they came to know that you dont no the local language, they will fool you like anything..........really they are capable of emptying your wallet in a shot......a defnite thing to avoid for a newcomer to chennai...
Chennai is a place where water is scarce......But residents are waiting to find some wather to dumb there garbage or dirty in any possible way they can........sometimesi get a doubt on the primary use of water in this city; is it for dumbing waste or for other useful purpose.....sometimes get a feeling that water is the greatest enemy of this city (Since i have been to other parts of Tamil Nadu, they ae also no way different). From the lower class to the higher class fails to understand the need for cleanliness and importance of water in our daily lives.......
Go to a local tea shop, you would wonder whether flies along with waste water and garbage are pets for them.
To tell about personal hygeine,i have heard from my friends they regret getting into the A/C volvo bus. The supernatural smell formed from a combination of high class perfumes and human sweat and dirt has them miles in their short journey.....
to be contd.....
